Lecture 6: Wearable electronics and personal informatics
With more and more wearable devices and smartphone apps being released that are capable of unobtrusively recording various aspects of our life, we are currently witnessing the emergence of a new trend. Followers of this trend rely on these apps and devices to track their every day activities and to gain insights into their personal well-being. In this lecture, I will give an introduction into challenges and opportunities that emerge when capturing and analysing personal data using wearable devices. Moreover, I will introduce NTCIR-Lifelog, an evaluation campaign that intends to encourage research and advances in organising and retrieving from such personal data.
