Biography
From February 2011 Dr. Alena Simalatsar is a scientific collaborator at Ecole Polytechnique Fédéral de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. Her current focus and interest includes but is not limited to safe and reliable software development for medical devices, such as closed-loop/autonomous drug delivery devices, target controlled infusion pumps and cutting edge 3D ultrasound technologies.
Dr. Simalatsar has received her Bachelor and Masters degree in system-level analysis of radio-electronic systems from Belarusian State University in 2005, and PhD in Computer Science and Telecommunication Technologies in 2009 from the University of Trento, Italy. During her postgraduate studies she was actively collaborating with the EECS Department of the University of California at Berkeley, USA where she also spend 6 month as a Visiting Research Scholar.
Dr. Simalatsar is the author of over 20 journal and conference papers in the main international venues, and one book’ chapters. She is a Technical Program Committee member and co-organizer of the Medical Cyber-Physical Systems workshop. She is also a winner of the Neuchatel startup weekend (2013) with the “Closed-loop anesthesia delivery” project. In parallel with her bachelor studies Dr. Simalatsar also gained a large working experience in development of embedded software and measuring equipment for technological processes control.
